The problem was getting so serious that one night in bed I could not get sleep.
I was literally crying crying, turning and tossing on the bed for THREE HOURS
I could not get sleep and I was about to burst from inside..
On an impulse, I knelt on the bed and cried out to Jesus to give me peace at least for that night.
I just prayed to him for just 30 seconds (tears still rolling down from my eyes) and lied down.
I knew only when I lied down and immediately the next second I fell asleep.
The morning I woke up and was really puzzled.
What happened to me when I cried out to lord jesus? I was crying for 3 hours without sleep and the very next second after I (an atheist) really cried out to Lord from my heart, I instantly fell asleep.
Below are the points to consider

1) I was an atheist and never read Bible/attended a church for the last four years till that incident happened to me on that night. So, I was completely uninfluenced by Christianity till that night
2) I have strong feeling that the reason why I fell asleep could not be because of any delusion or hallucination. Because, I did not drift to sleep slowly. I fell asleep immediately the next second.
Suggestion:
I think you reached out to Jesus so He reached out to you.

I could be a result of your mental illness. You could have triggered something hidden away in your subconscious. Plus 4 years is not a long time to be honest, so I would not say you are completely uninfluenced by Christianity.
It's called false faith.
You believed that Jesus was going to give you peace and was with you. That made you calm and fall asleep.
Have you ever heard of a hysterical pregnancy? Google it.

While Satan was messing with you, Jesus came to the rescue! This is very obvious that JESUS helped you. I hope you reconize that Jesus really did this for you.

God has been reaching out to you your whole life. He wants you to love Him, and He reached out to you here, and I hope you will realize it.
