First of all, don’t go to bed when you aren’t tired. This will only frustrate you. You must be fairly sleepy before getting into bed for the night. This is done by tiring yourself out during the day.
Take up exercise and really push yourself. If you have exhausting exercise during the day, it will definitely make you tired in the evening making it easier to fall asleep at night getting the rest that your body will need.
Create a sleep routine. An hour before bed, start relaxing a bit more. Turn down the lights. Try reading a book or doing something where you are in a relaxed state. You might take a warm bath or whatever it is that relaxes you. Get into this routine so that you can start telling your body it’s time to get ready for bed.
Get off stimulants that keep you awake. If you drink caffeine, stop drinking it later in the day. Try only drinking caffeine in the morning even if you think it does not effect you. Quit entirely and you will definitely feel more tired in the evening hours.
Try keeping a more consistent schedule. What happens to many is that they sleep very late on the weekends, then are not tired at all on Sunday night when they have an early Monday morning. Waking up at a more consistent hour will help you be tired at the proper times in the evening.
