Chill out and Get Some Sleep

Most of us wish we could get more or some better quality sleep.

When we feel over-tired we find it hard to concentrate and focus our attention on our work, we often get grumpy and impatient and our productivity falls way down.

There are certain medical conditions that make sleeping more difficult, and your doctor can best advise you about how to address those, here we are discussing sleeping in general.

There are thousands of different pieces of advice that people will give you about getting a better night’s sleep, some really work, some may be no more than mere superstition, but there is one simple fact that will ensure that you sleep more soundly.

Scientists do many different tests on sleeping, and sleep habits, after all, we are supposed to spend a whole third of our lives sleeping – do I hear an odd “I wish!” out there?

The one common factor we all have in regards to our sleeping needs, seems to be room temperature.

It is recommended that we sleep in a relatively low room temperature (approx 16C-17C degrees, or 61F-63F).

Whilst it can be difficult to maintain a lower temperature in your bedroom during the summer months, keeping cool will give you a sounder sleep. Try sleeping with fewer blankets or a lighter weight doona, especially during the hot summer months. Switch off the central heating in winter to allow the natural indoor temperature to take precedence.

The old jests about sleeping with both the doona and the air conditioner on may have some bearing after all.
