Cuddling in Bed with a Guy?

I'm a freshman in college and have developed some close friendships with people, especially this one guy who lives a floor below me. We know pretty much everything about each other and we frequently do homework together. The first couple weeks, we've fallen asleep together in his bed watching a movie. I'm pretty sure we both saw this as purely platonic. Then a few weeks later, the same thing happened, but we cuddled/spooned and he put his arm around my waist. We have some big differences in terms of religion/values so I'm not exactly wanting this to go anywhere unless it happens naturally. So the next day, I was completely casual with him and I feel like he put more emotional connection to it than I did. A couple days later, we are now both very normal with each other. Our friends/other people in our dorm have always thought there was something between us (even at the beginning, when there literally wasn't anything) and even now, people say we should just admit that we like each other.

I really like this guy and I do like cuddling with him and falling asleep together but is it possible to maintain something like this without making things awkward?

Suggestion:

He like you and it will eventually lead to a relationship. No guy just wants to cuddle and get nothing in return.
