There is a fact behind it, that sixty percent of a human’s brain is made up of fats, half of which are the special Omega 3 fats. The fish oil, as every one knows, is rich of Omega 3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA. Now when fish oil contains such high amount of these fats and 30 % of human brain is also consist of DHA fats, so definitely this is enough to tell anyone that taking fish oil have links with brain. When a component that your brain is comprised of will be taken by you, it is obviously going to affect it as the level of the particular fat will rise.
A human brain produces a hormone named “Serotonin” that keeps the mind relaxed. Now when one suffers from depression this means that his or her brain is not producing enough of this hormone. The fats present in fish oil stimulate the brain function and more of serotonin is produced that reduces the depression in any human. Pregnant women are also advised to take fish oil (Omega 3) during pregnancy because that helps not only in better and proper brain development of child but also saves mother from going under depression phases that are part of pregnancy normally.
So, basically the fats that are part of fish oil DHA and EPA are the ones that are part of human brain and that help in development of brain and keeping the balance of hormones like serotonin to keep people saved from depression.
