First, decide on a reasonable time that you want to start sleeping by and a reasonable time to wake up. The goal is to remember to set your alarm each night, as you lay down to sleep at that time.
The next step is to set up the routine that leads up to tat bed time. For example, you should make sure not to eat a big meal too close to bedtime. So, you should schedule supper for the same time each night and make sure it’s a while before you plan to go to bed.
Another thing to do is set up some calming things to do before bed, such as read a chapter or two in a favorite book or take a nice hot bath. If you prefer, watch a relaxing TV show or listen to some music. It all depends on what you like to do to relax.
It’s also important to make sure that you’re sleeping in an environment that’s conducive to sleep. So, as a general routine, you may need to turn the ringer off on your phone before bed. Also, of course, be sure to shut windows, shades and doors. You may even find it beneficial to wear a blindfold or earplugs to sleep. That way, you can block out all of the noises and sounds that might otherwise keep you up at night.
